Prayer Vigil Scheduled for Paramedic/Firefighter Jason Wurster, battling COVID 19

Charleston, West Virginia

Paramedic/Firefighter Jason Wurster has answered the call, providing critical emergency services in Kanawha and Putnam Counties in West Virginia for the majority of his career. Today, he is battling for his life and needs his community and those around the country and the world to lift him up in prayer as he continues to fight the novel coronavirus.

Jason is currently in critical condition at CAMC Memorial Division in Charleston, West Virginia. As of now, we know that he is on a ventilator and upon his arrival on the floor of the hospital, he went into Cardiac Arrest at which time he regained pulses after intervention by the medical team. He was then placed on emergency ECMO which is an extracorporeal technique of providing prolonged cardiac and respiratory support to persons whose heart and lungs are unable to provide an adequate amount of gas exchange or perfusion to sustain life. Treatment like this is typically meant to give the lungs and heart time to heal. Per the updates given on facebook, Jason seems to be tolerating the treatment thus far but remains in critical condition.

A prayer vigil has been scheduled for Wednesday, December 2nd, 2020 at 7:00pm ET. at CAMC Memorial's side entrance (closest to Starbucks) as noted on the facebook update. *Social Distancing and Masks are Required,* CDC, state and local procedures must be followed. While you may or may not be able to attend, NNEA is calling on all prayer warriors and people to begin praying at 7:00pm on this date to join the vigil being held. In addition, we ask that you pray without ceasing for Jason and for all of those who continue to fight this virus. In addition to prayer, please continue to take this virus very seriously and do everything possible to stop the spread and keep your self and your family safe during this time.

"I have known Jason for many years, he was one of the most outstanding, genuine and funny people I ever had the pleasure of working with during my time at KCEAA. Jason needs our prayer and support right now more than ever, and I ask that you direct many prayers and positive thoughts to this incredible guy!" - Nicholas Naylor

NNEA will continue to follow updates on the vigil, Jasons condition, and try to provide updates as we are able. If a live stream is available, we will try to make the live stream available on our facebook page so you can tune into the event as well. NNEA has not made contact with those planning the prayer vigil, but hope to share this information and bring more people together in prayer.
